Can you tow a motorcycle’s trailer behind a car?

jeangirl asked:

I’m getting a Pt Cruiser soon…I’d like to get a small trailer to tow behind it for extra cargo….would I be able to tow the kind of trailer behind it that motorcycles tow behind them??

I’m thinking it wouldn’t add as much “drag” as a normal small trailer would…..

Thanks!!!
I’m not sure what the “obvious reason” is….

I’d have a trailer hitch mounted & welded underneath the vehicle….

More what my question is asking…is if it (the trailer) would sway from side to side….or give me problems towing it from not having a large enough spread between the wheels and such….

Only if u have a permanent hitch installed. I don’t think they sell bumper hitches anymore. Shouldn’t be a problem as small trailers don’t weigh much.

Yes, I think so. You just need to go to Autozone or something to hook up a trailer hitch to the back of your car if it doesn’t have one already.

if you could find a way to attach it to your car, then i dont see why not, but i really wouldnt recomend it for obvious reasons

You will be able to tow the following types of trailers:

    4×6
    motorocycle trailer

You’ll need to have a trailer hitch installed. U-Haul has this trailer hitch for the 2006 & 2007 PT Cruiser:

    24997
    Sportframe 1 1/4 inch Rec
    Class: 1
    Max weight: 2000
Price: $129.95 (comes with $10 coupon for professional installation)

check your owners manual it should tell you towing capacity. this could affect your warr. if it is over rated.the only problem with the smaller trailer is seeing them to back up. it is best to have one with the same wheel width as your vehicle, toaws better ,able to see, follows same track as the vehicle
