This was the phrase I was given but I’m glad to know I’m not losing my research skills as I could not find it’s meaning either. Thanks for the answers! I had a hard time picking the best one considering it is either obscure jargon or non-existent. Tongue weight was not what they meant though…so I remain curious.

Spastic Monkey asked:

I recently encountered a situation on the highway and wanted to know whether or not it was illegal. I called HP who then told me to call 911, and they did not seem concerned. I saw a miniature pony saddled and haltered on the back of a “lawnmower” trailer. The trailer was full of untethered equipment including tools and a riding lawnmower. The pony had enough space to stand and shift his feet. There were no walls to speak off, except for the back loading ramp and a short rails surrounding the trailer. It is 22 degrees outside and we were going at least 65mph. I felt like the responder was indifferent to the situation and didn’t take me seriously. This is a rural area with a low crime rate and I’m certain that they do not have more pressing matters at this time, so I don’t believe that was the case. If there happened to be an incident on the highway I am certain that the Pony would have been thrown from the trailer, or at least had all this untethered equipment slammed into it. While I feel certain that this is inhumane treatment of an animal I was wondering it was illegal. I also wanted to know if there was anything that I could do in the future if I see a similar situation or something that I believe to be inhumane.

Brittany Y asked:

Ok, I kind of asked this question already, but no answers helped. At all.

I don’t have any problems loading my mare. She will get in the trailer just fine. So please if you’re going to tell me to bribe her in with food don’t bother answering. That. Doesn’t. Work. And it’s not even my question.

I want to know what I can do to my TRAILER to make it more comfortable for the horses.

I DON’T want to know what I can do to my horse to get her in the trailer. Because she DOES get in the trailer. She’s STILL afraid of it though.

I’m looking for ways to make my trailer less noisy/ painful/ scary so that she doesn’t have any more reason to be terrified of the trailer.

I’ve got rubber mats and butt bars; I’m planning on covering the butt bars with foam.

What else can I do to the trailer to help prevent other accidents? For example I’m covering the butt bars because they’re fallen off and hit horses in the legs.

Any ideas to make the trailer more comfy and safe?
