Trailer tires 13 inch, I am looking to purchase quality trailer tires?

ric asked:

I tow a boat and trailer- weight of 3000 lbs. It seems when the tires become three years old they blow out. I do tow between 65 and 75 mph. These tires have less then 5000K miles on them and no visable signs of dry rot and our infalted correctly. I replace them with best avalible to my knowledge, but most tire stores have little to offer. My best guess is that as the tire ages they can not withstand the heat build up. Any advice would be great, besides slow down.

You do not state the number of axles you have and the ratings of each.

13″? tires on a boat trailer? Are you sure. Most boat trailers are 14″. Very few are 13″ toady.

    Recommendation:
    1. If there is not a clearance problem go to 14″ rims and tires.
    2. Get some Goodyear tires rated for your type of use.

Specifically mention to the dealer that helps you that you travel at 65-75 mph. Your problem with blowouts is probably from running the tires over their speed rating. Most trailer tires are rated only to 55mph.

3000 pounds and a 13″ tire doesnt sound right. especially if its a single axle. if it is i would look at getting a true trailer tire with at least a 10 ply rating. or i would do some research and look at getting a 14″ rim and tire combo. one thing to remember the 13″ tire turns faster at 65mph than a 14″ tire will

Parts Superstore.COM! I believe they are out of Delaware. I get mine for my boat and they offer the best prices and selection. I get six ply rating that are 915 pound weight rated per tire. I have not found them with those ratings anywhere else! Great place to do business and they ship them directly to your door UPS. Just requires a credit card for online purchases. I buy tire and rim cheaper than just tire from anyone else!
